Pine For Living

A quality piece of furniture made in Pine is like a work of art. It beautifies your house as would a painting or ornament. We only use Australian and New Zealand Pine from managed forests that are being constantly replanted so this natural raw material will never run out and the young growing trees are effective absorbers of Carbon Dioxide which pollutes our atmosphere. Utilising natural pine for your furniture is environmentally friendly.

Our Pine Furniture is timeless, impeccably constructed and beautifully crafted. There are few materials that have the elegance and look of solid pine. While it may be easy to replicate the appearance of solid pine furniture, through the use of particle board and veneers, it is impossible to match its durability and sturdiness. SOLID TIMBER OR 100% SOLID FURNITURE?

In recent years there has been a large increase in the number of companies advertising and selling solid timber furniture. Customers need to be aware of the difference between solid timber furniture and 100% solid timber furniture. "The market for solid timber furniture has become more competitive. Much of the advertising is now based around having the lowest price. A lower price may also mean lower quality" Leon Schulz, Sales and Operations Manager.

Timber furniture might have timber trimmings. facings. crown mouldings and kick plate. but the shelves and drawers might be veneered chipboard or MDF board. The back of the unit may also be ply board. The drawers may have timber front and sides, but the bottom may be ply. To further reduce costs components may be just stapled together.

At the Timber Box, we hand make our furniture using only 100% furniture grade pine timber. The construction of our furniture is 100% solid timber. Components are both glued and screwed together for greater strength. The final process involves professionally polishing the timber to a satin finish.
